Find Potential Locations for an Indivisual Traveler

What is potential location?

The space-time potential location problecm is a method to study the accessibility or potential location of an individual moving status. If we located one individual location A on time T0 and then she was observed at location B on time T1. Assumed that this individual is driven in a vehicle with a constand speed, s. The goal is to find where and when are the potential locations that this individual has being traveled.

Simulation

The simulation below shows the PMA

The Potential Location Area (PLA) shows instantaneous location possibilities. If the PLA’s for two individuals intersect at a specific time, those individuals can meet at that time. The collection of all PLA’s for an individual forms their Potential Path Area (PPA). The PPA shows all location possibilities in a time frame. The time budget is the total travel time for all individuals.

What do the buttons do?

SHOW PLA: Potential Location Area (PLA) represents an individual’s instantaneous location possibilities.

SHOW DISC: The future disc is centered at the origin and represents the locations reachable up to the present time. The past disc is centered at the destination and represents the locations where the individual can reach the destination in the time remaining. The intersection of these two discs is the PLA.
